- Transfe PDF files to the device
- After installing Chrome extension, use Print to send your PDF file to reMarkable from Chrome. Read on reMarkable - Google Chrome Extension. Note that the TOC in PDF files will be lost after using this method to send them to the device (extension version 1.1.7).
- Sending from Android/iOS. Remarkable can send PDF files. To send a website, we need to save/convert the website to a pdf first. See How to Save a Website as a PDF on iPhone and iPad. It's awkward though.
- The reMarkable paper tablet supports PDF and ePUB files. If the PDF file has a title in its property, it will be used instead of the file name on reMarkable device.

- For some reason, it cannot show table of contents on pdf file that I can see TOC on desktop.
- Reflow:
- Use PrintFriendly extension. Change Text font to 130%. Print using remarkable as destination.
- Print Edit We extension. It provides more control on the layout of the webpage. For example, I can choose a block of the page and use 'Delete Except' option to only keep the selected region.
- Use MS-Word (or any Online conversion service such as Adobe) to open a PDF document. Enable Edit. Change the Font, layout, ... Print to a PDF. Done!
- WYSIWYG HTML editor such as BlueGriffon
- Reduce the width of the browser (to mimic the mobile device). It may remove the side panel on the website.
- Since it has no front light, a neck reading light like this one with usb-c is helpful. This is useful when reading in airplanes, walking in the night, work under the sink,...
- Some HTML quick hack before printing a webpage to rM
- Search "body {" or "body{" and change font-size from 10pt to 15pt, for example.
- Search "padding" in "p, dl {" and change the 2nd and 4th to 0px.
- Search "margin" in "h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {" and change the 2nd and 4th to 0px or 0em.
- Search "TOC" (including the double quotes in your search) and remove related div block (may go up one or two levels)
- How to Create Printer-friendly Pages with CSS. How to create a printer-friendly website using print stylesheets.
- Update 2.6 (2 fingers zoom in/out)
- If I copy an annotated PDF file from the device to computer and then copy the PDF file from the computer to the device, the annotation part will not be the same as the original: I cannot use the eraser nor can I use the lasso to move annotations. It makes sense.
Transfer files
- Transfer files from the device.
- The Windows Desktop application looks like a web browser app. When I choose to download a PDF file, it requires me to enter a file name, which is kind of inconvenient.
- Use USB connection (Settings -> Storage -> USB web interface) is a little better. I don't need to enter the file name but I cannot download more than 1 file or all files in a folder.
- How To Transfer Files To Your reMarkable without Wi-Fi (Enable USB and go to 10.11.99.1)
- rmapi
- rMAPI & remarkable_printer - Adding the reMarkable as a printer (print to it over wifi. No authentication. Not work for ver 2.6).
- How to directly print to your ReMarkable on Mac. It includes a step-by-step instruction to create a "Print to ReMarkable" item in Printing on macOS. It leverages rmapi and Automator.
- Upload pdf, epub files from nautilus etc. via rmapi
- RCU ($12)
- From iOS
- ssh
Notes
The notes are in an sqlite database in a folder that's not accessible. It's possible to create a backup by going to Notes -> Settings -> Backup and Restore and then you can copy the backup Zile from file note\backup\local (?)
